Argonics is one of the country’s largest producers of wear-resistant polyurethane products, creating high-performance urethane solutions at its state-of-the-art production facilities in Gwinn, Michigan.

ARGONICS HISTORY
2020
Argonics consolidates its two production facilities, moving equipment from Colorado to Michigan. This expands its Michigan dispensing production area by 36% and adds 3 additional dispensers.
2018
Argonics celebrates its 25th anniversary.
2015
Argonics’ Public Works Products launches the Speedy Sleeve, making a bigger push into the municipal waterworks industry.
2013
After years of extensive testing, Argonics releases a completely redesigned impact bar, engineered to be 241% stronger than the previous design.
2009
• Argonics moves to a new location on the KI Sawyer Air Force Base in Gwinn, Michigan. The KI Sawyer Air Force Base was decommissioned by the Air Force in 1995 and is under redevelopment by the County. The new building expands operation from 40,000 square feet across five buildings to 72,000 square feet in one integrated facility.
• Argonics is named one of Michigan’s 50 Companies to Watch.

2007
• Argonics completes numerous improvements to its facility, from a complete revamp of its goo-dispensing machines, to the installation of a new, 66-foot hot table and waterjet cutting machine.

2006
Argonics sees a great opportunity to acquire the Kryptane formulas and trademark when Kryptane Systems comes up for sale. With Kryptane Systems’ ability to produce parts as small as 1 gram, this acquisition gives Argonics a wider range of product sizes that can be produced.

Argonics is honored to be a recipient of the Michigan Small Businesses of the Year award.
1997
• Kryptonics’ success in the skate wheel industry diminished with the end of the roller blade era and Kryptonics was sold to Bravo Corp., with a small piece of the company retained and renamed Kryptane Systems. Kryptane Systems continues to manufacture industrial rollers, shocks and springs, and precision parts.
• Argonics begins selling its own conveyor belt cleaning system called the Eraser. Named because of the way it erases dirt from a conveyor belt, it begins the start of Argonics’ conveyor product line.

Argonics starts the development of its line of replacement blades for other manufacturers’ conveyor belt cleaning systems.
1995
Argonics begins working with Original Equipment Manufacturers, working closely with their engineers to develop improvements to their products.

• Kryptonics sells its mining and industrial division to Bob Flood, who moves the operation to Michigan and creates Argonics. This buyout includes some molds, machinery and general information, but the main purpose for the acquisition is the proprietary formulas for polyurethane. As customers of Kryptonics products, the owners of Argonics have first-hand experience with the high quality and extreme wear-resistant qualities of the unique urethane formula when compared to all other polyurethanes.

1970s
The skate wheel industry takes off with the realization that the performance of polyurethane on roller skates is the best available technology and with that, Kryptonics evolves into the largest roller skate/blade wheel manufacturer in the world.
1960s
Kryptonics begins as a urethane manufacturer for products in the mining industry, casting sheet stock. They use urethane formulations marketed as Kryptane® and the name becomes an industry standard for performance urethanes.
